Echeck NOX TECH TIPS
-
The best way to tell if the EGR valve is
getting a vacuum signal is to tee a vacuum gauge in just before
the valve, put the gauge on the windshield and drive the car.
Under moderate acceleration you should see 1-4 inches of vacuum
if it is a back pressure style EGR and higher if it is a non-back
pressure style.
-
To check for plugged or restricted EGR passages,
run the engine at 2000 rpm and open the EGR valve completely.
There should be a noticeable difference in the way the engine
runs. If not, remove the valve and check the passages.
-
Negative style back pressure valves should
hold a vacuum with the engine not running.
-
Positive style back pressure valves should
hold a vacuum with the engine running at 2000 rpm (you may
have to partially block the exhaust to build enough back pressure).
